OTHER EDUCATION & OUTREACH PROJECTS
LFSWS funded an educational paddle on the Farmington River for the Nonprofit Accountability Group (NAG) of Hartford which serves young people ages 13 to 18 years old. The river trip had 18 participants and was led by Farmington River Watershed Association staff. It took place in Windsor, with canoes, kayaks, and PFDs provided by Metacomet Tours. The trip began at the Old River St. Boat Launch, and ended at the Windsor Boat Ramp, lasting around two hours. The trip allowed for the participants to see the evidence of high summer flows, with exposed tree roots, bank erosion, and mud lines. After the paddle, a discussion about watershed connectivity, stormwater runoff reduction, and climate resiliency was held, and the paddlers were able to draw connections based on what they saw on their trip.
