This map depicts the 61.7 miles of the Wild & Scenic designation for the Lower Farmington River and Salmon Brook. This designation carries certain protections that ensure that the “free-flowing” nature of the rivers are maintained and provides federal funding to help with local conservation efforts. The map also o shows two segments that are excluded from designation. The excluded segments provide for use of hydropower is these sections and are not river-like in character because water is pooled behind dams.
