Owen Mortimer Invasive Plant Control

Multiflora Rose

In 2025, Simsbury Land Trust completed a 2 year project to control invasive plants on about 3.5 acres of its Owen Mortimer property. The goal was to restore native forest habitat by eliminating the existing understory invasive species, Japanese Barberry, Multiflora rose and Euonymus alata, through an application of herbicide by All Habitat Services. The first treatment was done in late spring of 2024. The second treatment in the spring of 2025 completed the project, but it will be necessary to watch for reinfestation to maintain control.
