Water Quality Monitoring: Bacteria

Bacteria levels were typical this year with minimal changes compared to previous years. Twenty-three sites were monitored for bacteria from May to September. Several sites exceeded the Water Quality Criteria for bacteria, including the Pequabuck River in Farmington. However, the Pequabuck the major tributary to the Farmington, which normally is “impaired”, saw improvement in 2025, but did not achieve “unimpaired” status. The Farmington River in East Granby did change from “unimpaired” bacteria values in 2024 to “impaired” in 2025. The status of all other monitored locations remained unchanged from previous years
